NETELLER were looking for a more streamlined mechanism to reach out to their affiliates and get them to opt-in to actively promote their member promotion.

Global e-money & e-wallet brand Neteller regularly run promotional campaigns for their affiliate network but to give Openr a real test drive they decided to run a like-for-like test across May and June. May’s promotion was without Openr, June’s got an Openr boost, and the results amazed even us!

  • Opt-in for the competition increased by 97% & within the 1st week this was a 100% increase, versus the May campaign
  • Acquisition of new members (Reach) increased by 31% versus May
  • This led to 704% increase in member sign-ups & a 600% increase in revenue from this affiliate promotion versus the May version.

Furthermore, with an outstanding 36% click through rate from their Openr  message, Neteller are now scaling the dizzy-heights of our CTR leaderboard!

About NETELLER: NETELLER, an Optimal Payments brand, is a global leader in the e-money market, offering both e-wallet functionality as well as prepaid cards that can be used for safe online shopping and online money transfers.

About the challenge:  NETELLER are leaders in the affiliate marketing space with a huge network of global affiliates who promote their campaigns to acquire new  NETELLER members. In this case, NETELLER were looking for a more streamlined mechanism to reach out to their affiliates and get them to opt-in to actively promote their member promotion. More affiliates sign-up means many more consumers can be reached via these affiliate sites. However, previous campaigns had received low affiliate participation and proved somewhat of an administrative headache, leaving consumer reach lower than hoped.

Campaign objectives:

  • Increase the number of affiliates who opt in to the promotion and actively displaying the correct graphics on their websites, so that the promotion would reach more potential NETELLER members
  • In turn, generate more sign ups and revenue

Working with Openr: To kick off their work with Openr, NETELLER decided to give our tool a real test drive and run a like-for-like test across May and June: May’s promotion was without Openr, June’s got an Openr boost.

Both campaigns were promoted to affiliates via an email newsletter, an email postcard and a blog article. The June affiliate campaign that used Openr meant the whole opt-in process was hugely streamlined. All they needed to do was enter their email address in the Openr and from the action button they were taken straight to the affiliate site log-in page where they could download the banners; removing admin for the NETELLER affiliate team and speeding up the journey for affiliates.

Results:

  • Opt-in for the competition increased by 97% & within the 1st week this was a 100% increase in participation, versus the May campaign
  • Acquisition of new members (Reach) increased by 31% versus May
  • This led to 704% increase in member sign-ups & a 600% increase in revenue from this affiliate promotion versus the May version.
  • Improvement in affiliate interaction: 123% increase in number of opted-in affiliates who used the correct promotion banners on their site.
  • A surprising additional benefit: previously inactive affiliates in the programme were re-engaged! 18% of opt-ins were from affiliates with over 90 days inactivity.

It has helped improve on the problems faced with promotion 1, with improvements seen at all stages of the promotion roll out (week on week).

Openr has helped provide us with an easy technology solution that will help to created simple solutions for managing mass opt ins from our affiliate base, it helped increase response rate to our promotions and impacted conversion (sign ups). The ability to allow us to control the route the affiliate takes during the promotion period is key. The ability to link the completed action to the login page forcing affiliates to carry on and complete our desired route to get them opted into the promotion and using the correct banners on site was very clearly improved. As per the results a number of older and what was considered dead or uninterested affiliates partners have been successfully re-engaged which was not a direct objective of this case study – but a welcome result!”
